A Walmart customer dropped by the hot-n-ready section, only to notice a price that stopped him dead in his tracks. Now, he’s posted a video to discuss the price tag.
The content creator, who goes by the name “MrHead Shot” on TikTok (@mrhead.shot5), posted a video that received more than 519,000 views. In it, he showed the unusual price listed for a Walmart hot dog in the hot-n-ready section of the store that made him turn his head.
The price in question? $21.
“I knew times were tough but [expletive] $21 for a hot dog?” the content creator asked. Viewers, too, seemed shocked by the price.
How Much Did This Walmart Hot Dog Cost?
The content creator went more in-depth on his distaste for the hot dog price in his video.
“All right, Walmart. I know prices are getting tough, but God [expletive], [expletive], $21 for [an expletive] hot dog?” he said.
To many, the price seemed truly unfathomable. It also doesn’t match online pricing for the product. Online, the very same hot dog costs $1.50, which is 10 times cheaper than the price listed at the content creator’s location.
That made many viewers say the price had to be a mistake made in haste. Some commenters thought that an employee accidentally labeled the hot dogs with prices for a completely separate product.
“The label says 14 count so the price is for something else,” one viewer said.
Another commenter added, “It says $8 per lb. Also says one is 2lb 10oz.”

Deciphering The Difference
After some guessing, one commenter managed to understand the pricing discrepancy.
“I work in Walmart deli. someone put 14 quantity and printed all of them the same way. they did it wrong they wanted to print 14 stickers but typed it in the system wrong that 1 sticker is for 14 hot dogs lol,” they said.
It’s true that the $1.50 price, when multiplied by 14, comes out to $21 before tax. Other viewers added to their theory.
“This is a funny error,” one commenter replied. “I worked in a Walmart deli so I actually make those, what this fella must’ve done by the looks of it is tried to print out 14 labels using the ‘by count’ option then when that didn’t print 14.”
Other viewers agreed the price was due to human error.
“They are supposed to be $1-$1.50,” another commenter said. The content creator replied, “Yeah, we bought one at 1.50 lmao [expletive] caught us off guard.”
So it appears as though hot dogs aren’t drastically inflating in price across the country. At least, not for now.
