Ronnita Huff (@ronnitabhuff) stood inside a Houston-area Chipotle and decided the burrito chain’s sour cream holds no secret. It is, she says, the same tub she buys at Kroger for her own tacos.

“I used to think Chipotle had some special sour cream,” Huff says in the clip. “No, but no, Chipotle used the same sour cream as us. I had to catch this.”

She had assumed something proprietary lived in the dollop. “Thought they added some special ingredients,” she says, “but nope.”

Chipotle’s sour cream: Same as Kroger’s

Her caption puts the whole discovery in one aisle. “I swear I used to think Chipotle has some special sour cream, but it is the same sour cream we use on our tacos from Kroger lol,” she wrote.

Chipotle hasn’t yet addressed the clip, and its published ingredient list names the topping only as cultured “sour cream,” with no supplier attached. What curdles here isn’t the dairy. It’s the idea that the dollop behind the sneeze guard was ever different from the tub in your Kroger cart.

People feel bamboozled

People had other ingredient secrets for other restaurants.

“And Wingstop ranch is just Hidden Valley [crying emoji],” wrote one person, to which Huff replied, “For real?’

Another person didn’t believe it. “They gotta be doing something to it cause it don’t taste the same or have the same consistency,” they wrote.

But an alleged employee rained on her parade. “Nope, I work there; it’s (the popular sour cream brand) Daisy and don’t do nothing to it for anyone asking.”

Another former employee gave up the real secret: “When I worked there, we would just slap the bag down onto the table and beat it up. That’s what gives it that runny texture lol.”

Ain’t No Secret Sauce

McDonald’s guarded its Big Mac “special sauce” for decades, then let executive chef Dan Coudreaut whip it together on camera from mayonnaise, mustard, sweet pickle relish, and white wine vinegar. That’s it.

Fox News noted every ingredient “can be found in any local grocery store.” No French dressing, no Thousand Island as once rumored.

Red Lobster surrendered its own icon to the freezer aisle. The Cheddar Bay Biscuit—long the reason to keep the table—now ships as a boxed and frozen product you can grab yourself. As of January, The Takeout reported the frozen version “can now be found at Ralphs, Pavilions, Target, Albertsons, Food Lion, Kroger, and more.”

The same Kroger, as it happens, where Huff says she finds Chipotle’s sour cream. For the record, you can get a standard 16 oz. tub for around three bucks.
