Traveling is meant to be an exciting time where you get to learn about a new place. Soaking it all in can be difficult if you’re stuck with someone bringing bad vibes to the trip. Travel influencer @flyfanci shares with viewers things to look out for in a potential travel buddy.

‘If You Do Any of These 4…We Can’t Travel Together’

@flyfanci is a travel influencer with over 37,000 followers. Her page consists of several reviews about places to stay and tips for booking trips in addition to beauty and fashion content. In a recent viral video, she tries to save you from bringing the bad vibes friend on the trip.

“First one, you complain about everything. If every flight, every hotel, every restaurant is a problem, you’re the problem. You’re the problem!” @flyfanci says.

She continues, “Next, you catching an attitude over every inconvenience. You got an attitude because you missed the shuttle. You got an attitude because the room not ready. You got an attitude because the line long. Relax, we gonna figure it out,” @flyfanci offers as food for thought.

@flyfanci also emphasizes the importance of being well-mannered to staff and locals when you travel.

“You embarrassing the group by being rude to the hotel staff. … Girl, no. Please know that kindness can get you a whole lot further … than yelling and cussing someone out,” @flyfanci says.

Lastly, @flyfanci says it’s stressful to travel with people that don’t give you a heads-up before journeying off by themselves.

“You not about to disappear without telling anyone where you’re going,” @flyfanci says.

The video has over 105,900 views and almost 13,000 likes as of this writing.

‘Baby This Is Everyday Rules!’

Folks agree that these are unacceptable behaviors, especially while on vacation.

“Heavy on nonstop complaining and rude to people in general,” says one comment.

“Baby this is everyday rules! … We can’t be friends periodt!” says another.

“Solo Traveling since 2012 because of stuff like this,” a different person says.

Other viewers share other things they avoid in travel partners.

“Girl, don’t forget traveling broke!” someone adds.

“Another one is eating at places we have in our home town. No we’re trying something new and different,” another comment points out.

“And not having an emergency travel credit card or travel insurance. Lol,” warns someone else.

Other Things to Consider in a Travel Companion

The travel blog Fodor’s Travel mentions a lot of the same compatibility points that viewers mentioned as things to consider when picking a travel buddy.

The article titled “For the Sake of Sanity, Be a Good Travel Companion” lists travel styles as one of the first things to consider. Does this person want to be just as adventurous as you? Or do they want to relax more? Do they expect to do most things solo or everything together?

Another thing the article mentions that a few comments also touched on is money. It’s important to discuss your budget for the trip in advance. Perhaps you want to spend money on pricey excursions, but your travel buddy simply did not financially prepare for that. This can lead to some awkward points.

The article also gives some general words of advice for buddy or group trips. Some advice this article gives is to be patient when traveling with others, and although communicating in advance is important, there is also an element of going with the flow when you travel. It’s all a balance in being prepared and compatible while also being open to the magic of the trip and where things might take you.
