@figuringlifeout.softly, a Houston-area TikTok creator, was pushing a buggy through an H-E-B in Richmond, Texas. A weird shaping on the cart caught her eye—and she drew what looked like an obvious conclusion.
“I was today years old when I realized this little holder was made to hold your coupons,” reads the caption over the clip.
The comments disagreed. Loudly.

She works through her logic with a shopper’s confidence. She held up a bright yellow store tag—a “$3 off” here, a “4 for $8” there—and slotted it into the holder like it was built for exactly that. Case closed, she figures.
Her audience told her something else entirely. Using the clip for paper coupons, several commenters warned, is a good way to lose them somewhere between aisles on quick turns and such. The real purpose, they said, was hiding in plain sight: your phone.
One reply did the heavy lifting. “I thought it was for my phone,” wrote a commenter. It was a nudge that sent the whole thing back to the store.

So, like any good scientist, she went back to her local H-E-B to test it out.
“Y’all made me go back to test out this theory,” she captions the follow-up, sliding her phone into the same clip she’d just filed coupons in. It fits, she shows—theory confirmed.
In the comments section for that video, people mostly assumed she knew or even used it to stand up the phone for calls.
One woman wrote, “I thought this was common knowledge … I use it when I have my husband or parents on FaceTime lol.”
