A woman says she went to Ulta for a quick haircut, only to walk out botched. Now she’s going viral on TikTok for the “experimental” styling she received.
Athirdofme (@athirdofme), a content creator who regularly posts about her weight loss journey, told her audience about a different change in her life. The TikToker says she went to Ulta Beauty’s hair salon with a simple request: She wanted to donate her hair to charity. She says she asked whether or not she had enough length to achieve a certain style after the big chop and was told yes. So, she went for it.

“I walked in, and I asked her, ‘I’m thinking of donating my hair. Do I have enough length for it to look like this?’” she says in her video. She says she then showed the stylist a photo reference, which she posted in an earlier video.
Athirdofme says the stylist agreed and told her that she’d be able to give her the haircut. It’s unclear what happened between the TikToker making the request and seeing the final product, but by the time she was done, she knew it was botched.
Rather than the chic curly bob she requested, the cut she received had a bowl-like effect.
She says that when she went to pay at the register, the cashier asked her if she wanted to speak to a manager. The haircut was so bad that the employee couldn’t fathom Athirdofme paying for it.
Botched by Ulta Beauty: Can You Get a Refund?
Commenters asked Athirdofme whether she paid for the service, and based on her comments, she did. She confirmed in the comment section that around 24 hours later, she called Ulta to formally request a refund.
On Ulta’s guest services page, it states, “If you are dissatisfied with any service received at an Ulta Beauty salon, please contact the store manager within 7 days of the service date.”
Salon managers can offer guests refunds when their hair does not match their expectations.
On TikTok, however, other creators have shamed some locations for not offering refunds after getting bad cuts. One TikToker, The Variety Co (@bbh212), allegedly had to escalate her situation to corporate in order to receive a refund. Another TikToker, Massi Ku (@massi.ku), had the same experience.
‘Can They Donate It Back to You?’
Outside of questions about the haircut, viewers joked about the situation. One commenter even jestingly referred to the cut as “whole head bangs.”
“What does your hairstylist do for a living?” one commenter asked. AThirdofme replied, “Butcher.”
A few commenters, however, earnestly gave the content creator suggestions on how to manage her hair. Or at the very least, they told her what styles she could get when she grows out her current cut.
“At this point I think you should get something like this,” one viewer said, adding a reference photo. “Cause it will remain in the bowl shape as it grows but if you break it up some I think you could at least not feel insane.”
While some told the content creator to “lay low for a while,” others recommended shaggy pixies and side parts. In a later video, Athirdofme said she got her hair redone. She’s now rocking a pixie, which commenters say fits her much more than the “bowl.”
