A Texas woman says she loves H-E-B, but she has one suggestion for the grocery chain. Viewers might have provided a solution to her problem.
On Aug. 1, the woman (@samadams1517) shared her grievance with H-E-B in a video that has amassed 5,000 views as of Sunday. “This is for corporate HEB,” she said.
What Is The Customer’s Criticism Of H-E-B?
She praised H-E-B’s selection and produce. However, she said Publix offers something she wishes H-E-B offered more widely. The shopper noticed the difference during trips to Florida and Alabama.
She said Publix stores often have a deli section where customers can buy prepared salads and sides by the pound. H-E-B sells prepared sides such as broccoli salad in containers. However, she wants shoppers to buy larger quantities from a deli counter.
“I’d like to walk in and be like, ‘I need five pounds of pasta salad,’” she said.
The idea would help shoppers preparing food for parties and potlucks. She joked that she does not want to make her own pasta salad. Despite her criticism, she stressed that she remains a devoted H-E-B customer.
“I love H-E-B,” she said. “It would make my life easier, that’s all I’m saying.”
Did Viewers Solve Her Problem With H-E-B?
Many commenters were quick to provide a solution to her issue.
“I work in the deli department, and all you need to do is call, and we will make however much you need,” wrote one commenter. “We don’t carry bigger sizes because we end up throwing them away.”
Many others verified this suggestion. “Call the deli and tell them you a certain amount, 24 hours in advance, and they will do it for you,” added another. “No problem at all.”
“As a fellow HEB ride or die, I’ve found I can pre-order a large amount of things like that from the deli for a same-day pickup,” commented a third.
Why Does H-E-B Have Such A Strong Reputation?
H-E-B has built a particularly strong reputation among Texas shoppers. The grocery chain has operated for more than 120 years, beginning with a small family grocery store in Kerrville in 1905. Today, the company describes itself as one of the nation’s largest independently owned food retailers.
H-E-B emphasizes low prices, quality products, and customer service. It also invests heavily in products designed specifically for Texas shoppers. The company currently offers almost 7,000 products that are unique to H-E-B.
The deli and prepared-food departments also form a major part of the modern H-E-B experience. H-E-B offers Meal Simple products, prepared salads, sushi and other ready-to-eat options. Some newer stores feature expansive delis, charcuterie selections and chef-inspired meals prepared in-store.
