At times, secret menu hacks surpass offerings on the menu in terms of popularity. But according to some commenters who saw a Texas Roadhouse “menu hack,” some requests really shouldn’t gain traction.
Content creator Angel Marie Zamiri (@angelmariezamiri2) said she made a special request at Texas Roadhouse in a video with more than 193,000 views. According to her, certain Texas Roadhouses are willing to “toast” the free rolls that come to the table upon request.
But her comment slammed her video, saying that it put too much pressure on employees to accommodate the table.
The Toasted Rolls
Zamiri said she made an unconventional request at Texas Roadhouse.
“ So we did a thing, and we went to Texas Roadhouse, and we asked them to toast the bread, and they actually said yes,” she said. “So we got it toasted, and we put the cinnamon honey butter on, and this is so much better than just having the regular bread.”
The content creator filmed another person taking two halves of a toasted roll and smearing cinnamon butter on them. Then she gave her review of the toasted rolls.
“ It was nice and fluffy on the outside, and it had a little crunch on the inside. It was delicious,” Zamiri said. “ We recommend that if you do go to Texas Roadhouse, ask your waiter or waitress to see if they can toast the bread. She did say some places do and some places don’t, so hopefully yours will too.”

The Only Caveat
While the hack seems like it would be tasty, some viewers said it was not worth trying. They cited the inconvenience of toasting each of the rolls for the employers. Individuals who claimed to be former employees even said that the request was highly inconvenient.
“Hate when [y’all] modify free stuff,” one commenter said.
Another added, “[When] I worked at roadhouse and people asked for this … [I] would just tell them we don’t do that at this location.”
A third viewer said, “You know how much of an inconvenience this is? Just for future.”
Zamiri responded to that comment, saying, “Thank you for the heads up. I usually get the smothered chicken[,] so I had no idea. Now I know just to order one of those.”
Chowhound notes that customers can make special requests with the rolls, but the publication states that it can be “daunting.” If requesting rolls in-person is too perilous, then Chowhound recommends ordering shrimp skewers, which come with toasted garlic rolls. It’s easy to ask for the skewers on the side—and to request extra toasted rolls with or without garlic butter.
But there are a few benefits to simply requesting some rolls to toast at home. Namely, that the rolls are versatile enough to be used for other recipes and fixings, and that it doesn’t create an awkward situation with an in-person request.
BroBible covered one Texas Roadhouse server’s hack—Texas Roadhouse French toast, which Texas Roadhouse does not have available on its menu. The publication named a few other hacks, such as using Texas Roadhouse rolls for sliders, which also cannot be requested.
