An Arkansas family says they raised a goose from a gosling. Then, the son found himself in an unexpected showdown with the goose, and viewers were divided.
Cheyenne Lane (@sariyalane) shared the video on TikTok, viewed 24.1 million times before it was taken down.
The viral clip is captioned, “When a goose you raised turns on you,” and shows the pair running across a grassy field. The goose can be seen chasing the little boy and repeatedly nipping at him before the child decides he has had enough.
The dramatic encounter has viewers debating whether the boy was defending himself or going a little too far.
What Happened Between the Boy and the Goose?
Instead of continuing to run, the boy grabs the goose around the neck and flings the bird away. The goose comes back, prompting the boy to grab it again.
The final exchange looks almost like a wrestling match. The boy gets hold of the goose’s neck, spins the bird around, and then yeets it away before running off.
The goose eventually stops chasing him and appears dazed as the boy makes his escape.
While some viewers were tickled by the unexpected showdown, others were uncomfortable with the way the child handled the bird.
“It’s the fact u blaming the bird when the son is grabbing it by the neck,” one commenter wrote.
Another commenter questioned why the child was fighting the goose at all.
“Why are you doing that to a poor goose get that child away from that animal the poor animal wants peace,” they wrote.
Donald Is Known for Attacking
Lane pushed back against the criticism and said viewers were missing some important context.
She explained that the goose, which she identified as Donald, is a domesticated bird her family raised from a gosling.
“Donald hasn’t chose[n] peace his whole life! This is our domesticated goose we have raised since a gosling he’s just mean!” she wrote, adding that viewers could find other videos of the goose on her page.
She also said the boy was not the first victim of Donald’s behavior that day.
“Don’t be he attacked a pregnant goat and a chicken today!” Lane wrote in another comment.
Later, she reassured viewers that the goose was fine and had returned to his usual behavior.
“Nope, he’s fine and mean as ever attacking everyone!” she wrote.
So, while the video may look like a bizarre case of a child taking on an innocent farm animal, the creator’s account portrays Donald as a repeatedly aggressive goose that had already been causing trouble.
Do Geese Actually Attack People?
Yes. Geese can become aggressive, particularly when protecting nests, mates, or goslings. Experts report the male goose, or gander, is often the bird most likely to attack. It also notes that geese accustomed to people can become particularly bold and injure small children and pets.
Reported injuries can range from bites and scratches to bruises and injuries caused when people fall while trying to escape.
In a 2026 Michigan case, a man who was knocked down by a goose suffered a fractured hip. Ultimately, he required a total hip replacement.
So, Why Would Someone Want a Pet Goose?
If geese can be aggressive, are they still suitable or desirable as pets?
You may be surprised to find that the answer is yes.

Not the First Goose Attack to Go Viral
The internet has a long history of turning aggressive geese into unlikely viral stars.
In March 2026, footage from Florida A&M University showed an aggressive goose chasing students around campus. The person who filmed the encounter said the goose had already attacked two other people before the video was recorded.
Another viral experience made headlines in 2026 after a Canada goose charged a six-month-old puppy named Tucker during a walk near Boston’s Lovejoy Wharf. Tucker’s owner said the puppy was harmless and normally paid little attention to the geese before the unexpected confrontation.
A 2018 attack in Alberta, Canada, showed another side of goose aggression. A good Samaritan was attacked after stopping to help geese and their goslings cross a road.
For the little boy in the latest video, the internet appears to have witnessed a particularly unusual version of a goose encounter. Instead of simply fleeing, he decided to fight back.
