A woman discovers she's saved as 'Cousin Andy' on a man's phone

A woman goes on a date and is asked to text him a reminder. Then she discovers she was saved as ‘Cousin Andy’ on his phone.

One woman found herself in an awkward situation after discovering that her contact information was saved as “Cousin Andy.”

TikTok Emily (@croupmushroom) shared the viral video with 1.8 million viewers. In the clip, she describes in detail the moment her date took an unexpected turn.

Rather than keep the discovery to herself, she decided to give other women a heads-up. She even offered to pay their bail if they recognized the name in their boyfriend’s phone.

Her announcement quickly attracted attention. Many commenters praised her for being a “girl’s girl” willing to warn others.

What other names have men used to hide women?

The comments quickly turned into a collection of stories from women who had discovered some rather questionable contact names.

One woman, for example, said she had once been saved as “Fitbit.”

“That way when I text him and he was near his other woman it would look like his watch sent him a reminder,” she explained.

She eventually realized she was the other woman and decided to leave.

Another commenter, @knotz_of_love804, recalled being saved as “Wendell.” The man reportedly exposed himself after sending her a screenshot of a missed text. When she noticed the unfamiliar contact name, she asked, “Who is Wendell?”

She said his attempt to explain the situation was almost as entertaining as the discovery itself.

Meanwhile, @SuspiciouslyWetToaster offered a much shorter explanation: “I was Pizza Hut.”

The stories prompted further discussion about the lengths some people allegedly go to disguise incoming messages from romantic partners.

Women have been sharing similar discoveries for years

The “Cousin Andy” revelation is hardly the first time women have discussed discovering fake names in men’s phones.

A 2022 Reddit discussion in the r/Infidelity community also explored the issue. A woman described discovering that her husband’s female co-worker’s number was saved under a man’s name. Although the original post has since been deleted, the discussion highlighted concerns about disguising someone’s identity within a marriage.

Of course, not every unusual contact name indicates infidelity. RelationshipExplained notes that people sometimes use aliases for privacy, playful nicknames or organizational reasons. However, deliberately disguising a romantic contact to prevent a partner from recognizing the number can also be a warning sign.

‘Cousin Andy’ drama takes a more serious turn

The story took a much uglier turn when the creator returned with update videos

According to Emily, she investigated the man’s social media presence and discovered that he allegedly had a girlfriend of nine years. The girlfriend claimed he was involved with another married woman, identified as Michelle. She suggested she get tested for her protection.

But the situation reportedly became even more troubling after the videos gained attention.

Emily alleged in another video that the man was now withholding rent, leaving the woman struggling to afford her home.

One commenter, @gabby, questioned the apparent retaliation, asking: “So he got caught cheating and he’s now mad at her and not paying the rent? Did I hear that correctly?”

Another commenter, @CronchyBeans, confirmed the creator’s claims about the alleged involvement with Michelle, describing the man as “a whole bag of trash.”

Emily also announced that she intends to donate all proceeds from the original and update videos to the woman. She encouraged viewers to support the videos by watching them to the end and engaging with trending words to help increase their reach.

What began as an amusing discovery about an unusual contact name has reportedly developed into a much more serious situation involving alleged infidelity and financial difficulties.
