A West Virginia DoorDash driver says she had to pick up an item from Petco that was so off-putting that it made her not even want to touch the bag.

Being a DoorDasher is filled with unpredictable outcomes. On this episode, a West Virginia Dasher has to pick up an unconventional item from Petco that may be gross to humans but will be a delicious meal for someone’s pet.

The Dasher in question is Lyn (@itsjustjalynnn), and let’s just say they weren’t the most excited to do the job—but they got it done.

‘Ew, yuck!’

Lyn begins the video by filming herself at the Petco counter.

“Y’all, so tell me why I had a DoorDash to pick up 100 whatever type of … bugs these are at Petco? Why would they do that to me?” she asks.

She notes that she’s barely touching the bag as she exits the store, and “don’t wanna touch the bag.”

“I don’t do bugs. Ew, yuck!” Lyn says. The one upside? At least the tip was $30.

‘I DoorDash frozen rats for my snake from Petco’

The video has gathered over 473,400 views and 36,000 likes as of this writing.

Viewers in the comments section agree that they would be just as freaked out by the order. They also identified the bugs in the video as crickets.

“I wouldn’t be able to drive. My eyes would be glued to the bag lol,” one commenter says.

“The fact you ain’t triple knot that baggg mannn you braver than me,” another notes.

“Lmfaooo every time I get one of these orders they tip good,” a different person chimes in.

“Lol they probably have some sort of pet reptile,” someone explains.

“I DoorDash frozen rats … for my snake … from petco,” someone else says.

What could these crickets have been for?

Crickets actually have tons of nutritional value for the right animals. According to Sunshine State Worms, a reptile food provider, crickets contain the following value for reptiles:

  • High in protein
  • Plenty of calcium and phosphorus for strong bones
  • Omega-3 & Omega-6 fatty acids, which support heart and skin health in amphibians and mammals.

Since these were live crickets, the owner probably got them because of the advantage these have over feeding dried crickets to your pet reptile. Live crickets move when trying to be eaten. This movement-based feeding stimulates natural hunting behavior and helps domesticated animals live a healthier life.

For Lyn, picking up live crickets makes her life more stressful. However, the $30 tip seems to help cope with the stress.

Subplot News has reached out to Lyn for comment via TikTok message and comment, and to DoorDash and Petco via email. We will update this story if they respond.
