A Texas server at Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux gave viewers a look at what she claims she made in tips over the course of one week. Her reported earnings have sparked a debate among other restaurant workers.
The viral compilation video was shared by Kylee (@kyyl.eee) and has 70,300 views. Kylee recapped her earnings after each shift at the restaurant’s Tyler, Texas location.
According to her breakdown, she worked five weekday morning shifts and one weekday night shift and brought in $1,884 in tips for the week.
One particular day stood out
Kylee’s biggest payday came Tuesday, when she said she made more than $735 over a double shift.
The server appeared dressed for work with ribbons in her hair and claimed she had served only two tables that evening.
The unusually high amount quickly became the standout moment of her weekly recap.
What does the server attribute to her high earnings?
The server attributed at least some of her earning potential to that restaurant location’s staffing model. She claimed that there are typically only about two servers working at a time. Allowing each server to handle a larger share of the customers and potentially collect more in tips.
However, commenters identifying themselves as servers at other Walk-On locations questioned whether that staffing situation is typical.
One commenter, @Adycat, wrote, “Which Walk-Ons is this because we always have 6+ servers on week days and 12 on weekends!!!”
Another server, @Nathan, appeared particularly frustrated with the videos and their potential impact on other workers.
In one comment, Nathan wrote, “Please for the love of God stop posting these videos. I usually only make about $100-$150 per shift and I don’t want that to lessen.”
When another comment highlighted the possibility of the videos negatively affecting other servers, Nathan responded, “Completely content with negatively affecting other servers btw.”
A former server also offered a dramatically different experience. @Kyleigh Fioroni claimed that a good day for Walk-On’s servers in Lubbock was only $60-$80 per shift, which she attributed to having six to eight servers working at once.
She added that she was “so glad” she left after her first day.
Another commenter, @Leea, compared the reported earnings with local law enforcement pay, writing that the server makes more than many police officers in East Texas, while noting that officers can work 10- to 16-hour shifts.
How Her Tips Compare With Texas Servers?
The reported numbers also stand out when compared with broader Texas server earnings.
According to Indeed, average reported tips for servers in Texas are approximately $100 per day. The average base pay is listed separately at $16.49 per hour. These figures were updated on August 31, 2026.
Because the server never mentioned her hourly wage in the videos, the $1,884 appears to refer to tips rather than her total compensation.
If that amount represents tips alone, she averaged about $314 per shift across the six shifts she documented.
This is more than three times Indeed’s reported daily tip average.
Her $735-plus Tuesday shift was an even greater outlier.
If the amount was entirely tips, she reportedly earned more than seven times the $100 daily average in Texas.
Although it is important to note that it was a double shift, she claimed she served just two tables that night.
Can Appearance Affect Tips?
Kylee’s appearance during her biggest-earning shift also adds another interesting element to the discussion.
Research has found that appearance can influence tipping behavior. However, it does not establish that a particular hairstyle or outfit will automatically result in higher tips.
Studies have found associations between perceived attractiveness, makeup, and certain clothing choices and higher tips. One study examining restaurant tipping found that servers perceived as more attractive earned substantially more in tips over the course of a year.
That doesn’t mean the ribbons in Kylee’s hair caused her unusually high earnings. Her Tuesday shift could simply have been because of larger checks or generous tipping habits.
Still, the combination of her distinctive appearance, only two reported tables and more than $735 in tips made the shift particularly eye-catching.
Ultimately, Kylee’s video provided one example of how lucrative a serving shift can be. However, for some servers, the same job may mean substantially less. Even when employed at the same restaurant.
