Cheddar’s has a reputation for decent-sized, hearty portions. When you visit, you expect to receive a generous plate.
But one woman is calling out the chain restaurant after being served an underwhelming dish.
Dishing up disappointment
“Cheddars, what the h—is this?” Atlanta-based Sherese (@absolutelysleek) asks in a TikTok. She unveils the tiny servings of green beans, mashed potatoes doused in gravy, and a single piece of chicken with a touch of gravy on a piece of Texas toast.
“Look at this baby plate Cheddar’s gave me,” she remarks. “You’ve got to be kidding me, Cheddar’s.”
The content creator further criticizes her meal in the caption, “The New [Cheddar’s] in Kennesaw. The serving size of vegetables [is] very small. Total ridiculous! [Cheddar’s], please do better.”
‘Cheddar’s serving old TV dinner’
Sherese’s clip racked up over 197,000 views, and many didn’t hesitate to join in blasting and jabbing the unimpressive portions.
“That’s school lunch food,” one viewer commented.
“Kid meal on a grown up plate. [Cheddar’s] did you real dirty friend! I thought the potatoes [were] a biscuit,” another stated.
“The plate to food ratio is abysmal,” a third remarked.
“[Cheddar’s] serving old TV [dinner],” a fourth said.
“They tore down Bahama Breeze for this,” a fifth lamented.
Has this happened before?
Earlier this year, Darden announced on its website the permanent closure of 14 Bahama Breeze locations and the replacement of the 14 others with other more profitable brands. The company owns popular brands that people know and may enjoy, including Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, and more.
On August 27, Darden shuttered the final Caribbean-style restaurant in Georgia and converted it into a Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, which opened on September 23.
Although the Kennesaw location has been operating for over a month, some consumers have had less-than-stellar experiences. Across the board, people voiced their grievances on Yelp about “long wait times,” “worst customer service,” and “floors were slippery, and tables weren’t wiped down.” However, some had a bone to pick with the food, complaining about it being “cold,” “undercooked,” or that “meals never arrived.”
Even a couple of other consumers echoed that the portions were not up to par.
“Tonight we ordered a spinach and artichoke dip, and it came out ice cold. The salmon was very dry and the sides were tiny. As much as I love Cheddars, I doubt I’ll be back to this location,” one reviewer wrote.
“Eat here if you like a small portion of hospital food and want to be starving when you leave,” a second criticized.
